On February 3, the swearing-in ceremony for 65 recruits of the January 2022 contingent took place in the Raab barracks in Mautern. Due to the current Covid-19 situation, the ceremony was held in camera.
Battalion commander Colonel Georg Härtinger emphasized how important the young men’s willingness to complete their basic military service is and that he is proud of the recruits’ achievements to date. Brigadier Christian Habersatter, Commander of the 3rd Jäger Brigade, pointed out in his speech that the recruits make a significant contribution to the positive public perception of the Austrian Armed Forces. Some of the contingent consists of top athletes such as Vesel Demaku (FK Austria Vienna). Lukas Dunner (rally driver) and Tobias Kiefer (baseball).
