The ceremonial swearing-in of those recruits who enlisted in November took place in the barracks in Bregenz these days in camera due to the Covid crisis. Thirty recruits from Vorarlberg, who are completing their general basic training at the Vorarlberg Military Command in Bregenz, were sworn in.

The young recruits complete their training with the staff company of the Vorarlberg military command in Bregenz. After completing their basic training, they are trained as pioneers. Due to the current Covid situation, the public was excluded from the event.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Austrian Armed Forces carried out and continue to carry out various assistance missions in Vorarlberg at the request of the authorities. The most demanding tasks include security police assistance, i.e. supporting the police. The soldiers are prepared for this in special training modules in order to be able to be deployed when required. Up to 17 soldiers are currently deployed for the Vorarlberg state infection team for “contact tracing”. In addition to these possible tasks, the pioneers are also being prepared for disaster relief operations and for winter as an avalanche relief platoon. Provincial Councillor Christian Gantner attended the event on the political side. He took the opportunity to thank the soldiers for their commitment. He emphasized the special importance of the Armed Forces, especially in the current times.
