Swearing-in ceremony in Schärding: 270 recruits from the Ried and Hörsching garrisons were sworn in on the town square on September 25. Around 700 people took part in the event.
Among those being sworn in were military musicians who accompanied their own swearing-in ceremony with music. Eleven women are part of the band. The recruits’ basic training had previously taken place in Hörsching with the staff company and on duty at the military command as well as in Ried with the armored infantry battalion 13.
The supporting program included a concert by the Schärding town band, a weapons display by the 13th Armored Infantry Battalion and a concert by the Upper Austrian Military Band.
In speeches, representatives of the
army
and politics referred to the service of the recruits. Military Commander Dieter Muhr asked for applause for the recruits, Major General Alexander Platzer, designated military attaché in Washington, spoke about operational readiness, and Federal Councillor Barbara Prügl conveyed the greetings of the Governor.
