At the end of September, more than 160 recruits took their oath of allegiance to the Republic of Austria in Wolfsegg am Hausruck. The good mood could not be dampened by the bad weather, and there was a large crowd of relatives and the general public.

The Governor’s message of greeting to the young soldiers was delivered by the Mayor of Upper Austria and President of the Upper Austrian Association of Municipalities, Christian Mader. He made a connection between basic military service and the national anthem. The swearing-in ceremony took place in the presence of the Deputy Military Commander of Upper Austria, Colonel Gerhard Bojtos, Mayor Barbara Schwarz and representatives of public life. Colonel Bojtos paid tribute to the recruits for their sense of responsibility to risk their own health and integrity for Austria if necessary and wished them an exciting and accident-free basic military service. The soldiers who were sworn in joined the military band in August and the staff company in Hörsching in September. Over the next few months, they will serve with the staff company of the Upper Austrian military command, the field ambulance in Hörsching and the 4th mechanized infantry brigade.
