The Army High Mountain Specialists (HHGS) Winter Training Course 2024 has successfully completed the first two stages of training. The participants completed comprehensive ski training on the Kitzsteinhorn as well as challenging high-altitude ski tours in the Venediger Group, proving their skills and endurance under extreme conditions.
An essential part of the course was the transition from the Kürsingerhütte to the Essener-Rostocker Hütte via the 3,108-metre-high Maurertörl. This challenging section was successfully mastered by the course participants. A highlight of the course was the ascent of the Großvenediger, which took place under optimal conditions and offered the participants impressive experiences in the high mountain landscape.
The course participants faced challenging conditions over the weekend (March 9/10), including a foehn storm and poor visibility. Despite these adversities, they continued their training with professionalism and determination. This was followed by further training tours and partial exams, which gave the participants the opportunity to further improve their skills and knowledge. The next exciting stages of mountain combat training will take place in the Leoganger Steinberge mountains in cooperation with Jägerbataillon 23 (HGeb).
