After Great Britain Australia is now also getting serious within the trilateral security pact AUCUS: The government Down Under has BAE Systems and ASC Pty Ltd to build new nuclear-powered submarines of the same type.

Under the AUCUS agreement, Australia and the United Kingdom (the United States is also part of the agreement) will operate a joint submarine of the future, incorporating technologies from all three nations and based on the UK’s next generation design, in which BAE Systems is a leader. In Australia, BAE Systems and ASC Pty will form a joint venture to carry out the collaboration. https://militaeraktuell.at/saab-erhaelt-airbus-auftrag-fuer-arexis-sensorsuite/ “We are very proud of our role in delivering this very important tri-national submarine program. Our selection as a partner in Australia alongside ASC is a recognition of our role as a long-term UK partner for submarine development and construction and as a key player in the Australian maritime and wider defense landscape,” said Charles Woodburn, BAE Systems’ Chief Executive Officer. SSN-AUKUS will be the largest, most powerful and advanced attack submarine ever operated by the Royal Navy and will replace the Astute class from the late 2030s, the last two of which BAE Systems is currently building at its site in Barrow-in-Furness in the North West of England. Australia expects to take delivery of its first SSN AUKUS submarine in the early 2040s.
