The “Soldiers with Heart” association recently experienced a remarkable day at the Federal Ministry when President Platoon Leader John Patrick Platzer, Vice President-designate Imrana Jashari, Cadet Pauline Dopona and Chief Constable Martin Kainz accepted the invitation from Federal Minister Klaudia Tanner. Together, they proudly presented the trophy that the club had won by coming second in the Heart Club Election 2023.

President Platzer expressed his delight at the invitation to Vienna: “It is an extraordinary honor to be here at the Federal Ministry and to share this award with the Federal Minister. We now see this as a mandate to continue the association’s successful work for young people in need. I am proud of what my ‘soldiers with a heart’ and I have achieved.” Since the association was founded in 2020, more than 35 charitable projects have been implemented across Austria. These include campaigns for greater road safety on the way to school with bicycle helmets, swimming aids and awareness-raising for the risks in the water in summer, sports equipment and excursions in autumn and sledges and sleeping bags in winter. “Our calendar is full again in 2024. This year, the focus will be on safety, including a visit to the Red Cross headquarters with the children,” reveals Vice President designate Imrana Jashari.

The trophy was presented and a gift basket handed over.

Federal Minister Klaudia Tanner praised the “Soldiers with Heart” for their exemplary work and their visible commitment to greater compassion and cohesion in society: “I warmly congratulate the ‘Soldiers with Heart’ association on this well-deserved crown award. Our soldiers are much more than ‘just’ military personnel and work tirelessly for those who urgently need help or support. I would therefore like to thank President Platoon Leader John Patrick Platzer and his comrades for their commitment to giving other people warmth and charity through their actions.” Chief Constable Martin Kainz emphasized the added value of such charitable actions for the army: “The humanitarian work of ‘Soldiers with Heart’ is not only important for society, but also for the squad. It strengthens the cohesion and operational readiness of the troops, because it shows that we as soldiers are not only there to defend our country, but also for the well-being of our fellow human beings. These activities enrich our barracks and contribute to a positive and communal atmosphere.” https://militaeraktuell.at/32566-2/ As a token of their appreciation, the Soldiers with Heart presented a gift basket with numerous Carinthian specialties: a Brettl snack from farmers in Brückl, Begusch pine schnapps from the Rosental valley and honey from the Lesachtal valley. Platzer also presented the cooperation patch for the coming spring quarter – the partner badge with Döbriach Water Rescue, the first-place winner of the Herzensvereinsgala. This will be used to purchase a new steering wheel for the lifeboat on Lake Millstatt.
