After their formation exercise in mid-March, the soldiers of the reaction militia of Jäger Battalion 12 recently completed their first training exercise. The first formation exercise for the militia soldiers took place at Jäger Battalion 26 – a total of around 70 soldiers took part in the exercises in Amstetten and Spittal an der Drau.
Various training topics
The training program at the Jäger Company in Amstetten was densely packed: The aim was to complete the topics of weapons and shooting service, use of direct coercive force, NBC individual protection, self-help and comrade assistance as well as telecommunications service for all troops and to refresh their knowledge. The soldier course of the military-specific test also had to be completed. The Commander of the Land Forces and Special Operations Forces, Major General Martin Dorfer, visited the militia soldiers during an inspection and gained an overview of their training.

First formation exercise in Carinthia
In Spittal an der Drau, the soldiers and a female soldier from the reaction militia also completed an extensive program. In addition to various lessons, the militia soldiers’ duty roster at the Türk barracks also included the fitting out of weapons, equipment and clothing, as well as a full check-up. Major Stefan Kuess, company commander of the soldiers in the reaction militia at Jäger Battalion 26, said: “We are still looking for motivated militia soldiers who are interested in regular training with a professional unit and look forward to welcoming everyone who wants to take part in the reaction militia.” The reaction militia
