The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) has Sikorskya subsidiary of Lockheed Martina subsidiary of Lockheed Martin , a few days ago to conduct an integrated aircraft concept study for the X2 helicopter systems. This is intended to map NATO’s requirements for a next-generation medium multi-role helicopter as part of its Next Generation Rotorcraft Capability (NGRC) program.

“With continued investment and extensive flight testing over many years, including multiple X2 technology demonstrators, we have already demonstrated capabilities that could significantly change the future of helicopter operations,” said Andy Adams, Vice President of Sikorsky Future Vertical Lift. “Our X2 helicopter technology will leverage the strengths of Lockheed Martin and its European industrial group to provide NATO with an integrated helicopter system that combines speed, range, maneuverability, survivability and operational flexibility.” https://militaeraktuell.at/general-james-slife-zukunft-us-air-force/ Sikorsky has assembled a group of European industry leaders to support the execution of the NGRC study. These include the following companies BAE SystemsESG – recently part of the Hensoldt Group -, Kongsberg, Rheinmetalland Malloy Aeronautics. This group, consisting of more than ten companies in total, will be able to contribute their products and military solutions to Sikorsky’s integrated aircraft concept as part of the study, not only to enhance NATO’s capabilities but also to provide a next-generation helicopter system.

With more than one billion euros invested and 15 years of testing and flight operations under its belt, Sikorsky’s X2 rotorcraft technology is already well advanced in terms of future operational relevance. The S-97 Raider demonstrator’s extensive flight test program also continues to provide important data that correlates with a virtual prototype and allows the company to experiment with the X2 rotorcraft’s capabilities.
