Senop Oy, a Finnish supplier of night vision devices and part of the Patria Groupsigned a memorandum of understanding with the Finnish Armed Forces Logistics Command on May 23 regarding the further development of new night vision devices. The memorandum of understanding is related to the improvement of the army’s night combat capability. The aim of the Finnish Armed Forces was to procure indigenous night vision equipment that combines performance, cost efficiency and compatibility with the existing and future systems of the Finnish Armed Forces.
The signed memorandum of understanding covers the development of the following products for the Finnish armed forces:
- Next generation night vision goggles based on M20 technology, with improved ergonomics and a new helmet mount.
- Tactical thermal imaging binoculars based on the technology of thermal imaging cameras without cooling, using both existing and new software solutions specially developed for the Finnish Armed Forces.
- A next-generation multi-purpose fire control system based on smart sight technology for various weapon platforms, such as support weapons and anti-tank weapon systems.
