Schiebel and MDA Space have successfully tested IMSAR’s NSP radar (Synthetic Aperture Radar, SAR) with GMTI and MMTI (Ground and Maritime Moving Target Indication) capabilities. The demonstration took place at the Foremost UAS test site in Western Canada and lasted one week.

The integration of the NSP radar into the Camcopter S-100 was completed faster than planned, according to a recent press release from the company. The entire radar electronics could be accommodated compactly in the antenna housing. Thanks to the integrated software, mission plans can now be uploaded directly to the S-100 platform, enabling seamless planning and execution of radar flights. https://militaeraktuell.at/rheinmetall-air-defence-zeigt-fliegerabwehr-spektrum/ During the test, the fully integrated system demonstrated its capabilities day and night at distances of over 100 nautical miles (around 185 kilometers). Equipped with the IMSAR NSP radar, the Wescam MX-8 EO/IR sensor, a GPS anti-jam system and an automatic identification system (AIS), the S-100 successfully completed a series of simulated land and sea tasks. The system delivered high-resolution SAR imagery as well as GMTI (Ground Moving Target Indication) detection and tracking, even in challenging weather conditions, according to Schiebel. He continues: “This performance highlights the IMSAR radar as an essential sensor that increases the effectiveness of the platform and significantly improves situational awareness in complex operational scenarios.”

“The integration of the IMSAR radar into the S-100, combined with a powerful EO/IR system, significantly enhances the platform’s surveillance and detection capabilities. It enables wide area coverage and impressive ranges in all weather conditions,” explained Neil Hunter, Head of Global Sales at Schiebel. “This test impressively demonstrates the continued operational performance of the Camcopter S-100 as a versatile multi-sensor platform capable of providing real-time information for a variety of operational scenarios day and night.”
