Dformer Private Michael Bogensberger was honored as “Salzburg’s basic serviceman of the year 2023” at a small ceremony in the Schwarzenberg barracks. Serviceman of the Year 2023″ was awarded. An honor that highlights the special contribution and outstanding performance of a recruit during his service in the Austrian Armed Forces.

Michael Bogensberger joined the Command Support Battalion 2 in Sankt Johann/Pongau in February of this year. After completing his basic training and thanks to his passion for Information Technology he was selected by the Electronic Warfare Command Support Company to work on a long-planned software project.

@Federal Army/RiedlspergerThe so-called “Aufbauplatz App” project aimed to provide the troops with a digital platform to document information about favorable detection and direction finding locations. Bogensberger took on the challenge and delivered software that was tailored precisely to the company’s needs and implemented directly on its IT systems.

The innovative app could even be expanded in the future to integrate other areas such as radio and directional radio, which could further increase its usefulness and applicability.

This remarkable achievement shows how young talent in the armed forces can be harnessed and nurtured to develop modern and efficient solutions that improve day-to-day operations and troop safety.

On November 7, Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner will present the “Recruit of the Year” award to one of the nine winners from the federal states in Salzburg.
