From March 1 to July 30, the 10th Cadre Candidate Training 1 for young NCO and officer candidates has been taking place at the 2nd Jäger Company of Jäger Battalion 8 in the Schwarzenberg Barracks.
Of the initial 31 participants, 24 cadre candidates are still in training after eight challenging weeks of training. They come from seven federal states and are taking their first steps in Salzburg on their way to becoming commanders of troops in the Austrian Armed Forces. The content of basic training/cadet training, the first part of the course, ranges from physical training, weapons and shooting training to combat training, which is the main focus of the training. Other important military skills such as the NBC defense of all troops or the telecommunications service round off the training and provide the basis for the cadre leadership training that follows in May.
In this second section, the focus is on the leadership skills of the course participants with the aim of solving various combat tasks as the commander of a squad. Furthermore, the cadre candidates are expected to act as competent and, above all, physically capable leaders. These ambitious demands on the young cadre candidates are challenging but essential for the quality of their further training as a non-commissioned officer or officer.
