Rohde & Schwarz can look back on a successful 2017/2018 financial year. Both incoming orders and sales have once again increased significantly.

Rohde & Schwarz exceeded the two billion euro mark in sales for the first time in the 2017/2018 financial year (July to June). At 2.04 billion euros, it was 6.7 percent higher than in the previous year, while incoming orders rose by 7.4 percent to 2.21 billion euros. Further growth can be expected in the coming years, as Rohde & Schwarz occupies four important future markets with high growth potential with its strategic pillars of measurement technology, broadcast and media technology, aerospace | defense | security and networks and cyber security. In the Aerospace | Defense | Security business unit, the major development efforts of recent years bore fruit in all areas in the past financial year. For example, Rohde & Schwarz body scanners now set the standard for passenger security checks at many German and international airports, which is reflected in the growing number of operators. R&S Ardronis, a detection solution for commercial drones, has also established itself on the market. These can pose a safety risk to air traffic and other areas in need of protection. R&S Ardronis is part of the GUARDION drone defense system, a collaboration between ESG, Rohde & Schwarz and Diehl Defence. GUARDION was deployed live at the G20 summit in July 2017 and at the International Air Show (ILA) in April 2018, for example. Another growth driver is the extensive digitalization efforts of numerous armed forces around the world. Rohde & Schwarz offers communication solutions for use on the ground, at sea and in the air and presented the R&S SDAR, for example, the most advanced aviation radio on the market, at the ILA. The order received last year from the Federal Ministry of Defense to equip 50 command vehicles with the “joint armed forces, network-capable radio equipment” (SVFuA) led to a further strengthening of the position in the field of tactical communication, not only in the domestic market. With this innovative software-defined radio, the company is contributing a key component to the major D-LBO project, with which the Bundeswehr intends to implement the “digitalization of land-based operations” in the coming years.
