Saab has signed a framework agreement with the Latvian Ministry of Defense for the RBS 70 NG ground-based short-range air defence system and received its first order as a result. The order is worth around 180 million euros and deliveries are scheduled to take place between 2026 and 2030.
In addition to the launchers and missiles, the order also includes training units.
“Saab continues to support the Latvian Armed Forces with a powerful ground-based air defense system that will significantly strengthen their ability to detect and engage airborne targets,” said Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s Dynamics business area.
The RBS-70-NG system is equipped with an automatic target tracking system and an integrated night vision device. It enables threats such as aircraft, drones and guided weapons to be engaged at distances of up to nine kilometers.
