Saab together with industry partner Conlog Oy, announced a modular, secure and rapidly deployable digital tower (r-TWR) for flexible air traffic control operations.
Air bases are easy for a potential adversary to identify and are under permanent threat in the event of a conflict. Air forces around the world are therefore increasingly looking for ways to maintain their operational capability in the event of an emergency through mobile or remote-controlled measures. With this in mind, Saab has now unveiled its new r-TWR Deployable, a mobile and digital control tower that combines high availability, modularity and flexibility for various operational scenarios.
The system is operational within an hour and can be remotely controlled from a secure location at any base or connected to a central facility hundreds of kilometers away. The highly qualified personnel required for control can thus be kept in safe areas and the possible applications extend beyond military conflicts: for example, the system can also be used to quickly set up a flight infrastructure in a country hit by natural disasters in order to carry out international aid missions.

These include the TactiCall voice communication system for secure and cyber-secure communications, the Giraffe 1X lightweight multi-mission surveillance radar with drone tracker capability, Sirius Compact passive surveillance for tactical applications and Barracuda stealth for a reduced multispectral signature.
