The Swedish defense contractor Saab is offering Canada its GlobalEye early warning and control platform. This would be an obvious solution for Ottawa, as the system is based on the Bombardier Global 6000/6500 aircraft manufactured in Canada.
According to a recent press release from the company, Saab’s offer would use this proven basis and enhance it with sensor technology and mission equipment.
“GlobalEye is a key strategic tool – a multi-domain capable solution that enables enhanced situational awareness and rapid response capability across air, sea and land,” says Anders Carp, Deputy CEO of Saab.
“With Bombardier’s world-class aircraft manufactured right here in Canada and Saab’s proven expertise in radar development and reconnaissance technology, GlobalEye represents a unique opportunity to deliver exceptional capabilities while strengthening Canada’s aerospace and defense industry.”
