The Dutch armed forces are procuring new Leopard 2A8 main battle tanks also new anti-tank weapons. Specifically, this involves the Carl Gustav M4 system from the Swedish manufacturer Saab. This portable, recoilless 84-millimeter anti-tank weapon is intended to replace the now obsolete Panzerfaust 3 (PzF-3). Its range is around 600 meters.
Depending on the ammunition used, the Carl Gustav M4 offers a range of 600 to 800 meters. In addition to main battle tanks, this system can also be used to effectively combat armored vehicles and enemy infantry positions.
The first systems are to be delivered before the end of this year. Full delivery is planned by 2028.
