In response to the increased demand for radar and sensor systems and a high recruitment rate Saab is expanding its activities in the Gothenburg region with a further facility in Mölnlycke, Härryda municipality.
According to the company, this will enable it to “continue to grow” and “expand its supply capacities in the region”.
The Gothenburg site is responsible for the development and production of airborne and ground-based radar and sensor systems, including the Global Eye airborne early warning and reconnaissance system and the Giraffe radar family. Saab has also recently expanded its production capacity for radar and sensor systems at other locations, including Halmstad (Sweden), Finland and the United Kingdom.
“In order to meet the strong demand for our world-leading solutions, we are expanding our activities in the Gothenburg region with additional office space and production capacity. The region has a strong competence cluster in microwave technology as well as renowned universities and companies. We look forward to continuing to grow and create new jobs in the region,” says Carl-Johan Bergholm, Head of Saab’s Surveillance business area.
The existing Saab site in Kallebäck will be retained. In addition, a new multifunctional facility with space for around 500 workplaces is being built in Mölnlycke. Saab currently employs around 3,200 people in the Gothenburg region.
