The Procurement Office of the German Armed Forces (BAAINBw) has commissioned the Swiss company RUAG to supply containerized miFAP systems (multinational interoperable radio access point) to strengthen its command and control capabilities in national and multinational operations. The miFAP system serves as a communications hub and voice and IP router that interoperably connects transmission networks and devices from different manufacturers and generations.
Thanks to their containerization, the systems also provide further advantages such as rapid availability, flexible deployability and independence from existing supply systems at the deployment site. The BAAINBw has ordered 14 of these fully integrated, autonomously deployable miFAP systems in container design as well as a training package for them.
In December 2023, 55 operating, transport and storage containers (BTuLB)-based miFAP systems were successfully handed over to the Bundeswehr. Since then, the integration into an RF-shielded container (high-frequency shielding), including the necessary supply systems, has ensured further mobilization of the deployment system.
To ensure immediate operational readiness at the destination, the power generators and air conditioning systems integrated in the container can be operated during transportation. This ensures optimum temperature control of the operator compartment and the miFAP system so that they can be put into operation immediately. Four integrated, electromechanically extendable telescopic masts with pre-wired antenna connections round off the concept.
