Rohde & Schwarz has been awarded the contract to supply the R&S Kora C/R-ESM communication and radar acquisition and analysis system and its integration into the new F126 frigates for the German Navy. The negotiations were conducted according to the “Mutual Gains Approach”.
R&S Kora is a powerful acquisition and analysis system that detects, identifies and tracks complex and broadband radar emissions and communication signals. The system combines the detection results for the different signals and thus provides a comprehensive situational picture that covers the entire electromagnetic spectrum of the environment with high sensitivity and long range. R&S Kora thus enables increased situational awareness and improved early warning capabilities. “Rohde & Schwarz is pleased about this order, especially since we can look back on many years of cooperation with this German customer in the field of radio intelligence systems,” says Wolfgang Marchl, Vice President Government at Rohde & Schwarz. “R&S Kora enables the acquisition, analysis and evaluation of radar and communication signals at sea and thus opens up a new dimension of information. The system is modular and scalable, making it the perfect choice for the German Navy, especially in view of the complex operational requirements of the future.” A team led by Dutch Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding, together with partners Blohm+Voss and Thales, is building four new frigates for the German Navy. The first ship is due to be handed over to the German Navy in Hamburg in 2028.
