A few days ago, the world’s largest naval maneuver started for the 29th time: “Rim of the Pacific” (RIMPAC). The exercise lasts until August 1 and takes place in the sea area off Hawaii. The German Navy (-> current news about the German Armed Forces) is taking part with its naval unit, the Indo-Pacific Deployment (IPD). The unit consists of the frigate “Baden-Württemberg” and the task force provider “Frankfurt am Main” (-> German armed forces deploy around the world).

This year, 29 nations are taking part in this exercise with 40 ships, three submarines, 14 national land forces and more than 150 aircraft and helicopters. Around 25,000 soldiers are training together. The German Navy participates with the most modern frigate class F125 and the largest ship class in its own fleet, a “Berlin-class” task force supply ship. Since 1971, numerous nations have been meeting at RIMPAC to train their skills in all military scenarios. These include submarine hunting, air defense, combat exercises against surface targets, amphibious operations, mine hunting and the interception and search of civilian ships. https://militaeraktuell.at/bundesheer-verstaerkt-katastrophenhilfe/ The German Navy and its partner navies support each other with the integration of capabilities in their joint formations, on ships and boats as well as flying weapon systems. “All of this serves our goal of gaining depth of capability and perseverance – through the exchange and integration of maritime capabilities in a multinational network,” as stated in a recent statement from the German Navy.
