Rheinmetall has delivered a mobile field hospital to Ukraine. Rheinmetall subsidiary Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme GmbH (RMS) received the order for this and accompanying training services from the German Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) in September 2022. The order is worth around nine million euros.

The modern military hospital comprises 32 patient beds, including eight intensive care beds, an operating theatre with associated sterilization, diagnostic imaging with X-ray and computer tomography, a laboratory, a pharmacy and administrative and staff areas. It therefore meets the NATO Role 2 standard. In two further deliveries at the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024, RMS will also hand over two mobile rescue stations to Ukraine.

In addition to the field hospital itself, Rheinmetall has also delivered the necessary transport units to Ukraine. A total of ten truck combinations with trailers transported the 20 containers to their destination. The hospital is a completely self-sufficient medical supply unit. It not only contains medical modules in expandable containers and tents, but also supplies itself with electricity and medical gases via generators. The water supply, including water treatment and decontamination, as well as accommodation units with sanitary modules for patients and staff are also integrated. Furthermore, the water networks, for example, are heated and the sensitive computer tomograph in the container is sprung with a sophisticated transport system. This enables transportation by land, sea and air as well as immediate operational readiness once the system has been moved. Only reusable materials are used in the entire field hospital, as the system is designed for mobile use. https://militaeraktuell.at/us-army-vergibt-auftrag-an-bae-systems/ The mobile field hospital was handed over in two stages: First, ten Ukrainian soldiers completed a 14-day training course in setting up, dismantling, transporting and operating the hospital. This was followed by the official handover to Ukraine at the designated handover location. The Ukrainian soldiers were trained by RMS employees in August in an exhibition hall in Friedrichshafen (Baden-Württemberg). Half of them already had medical training and half had technical training. They came to Germany directly from their area of deployment in Ukraine for the two-week training course.
