The Rheinmetall subsidiary American Rheinmetall Vehicles, together with partner General Motors (GM) Defense LLC, delivered three prototypes to the US Army for the first phase of the Common Tactical Truck (CTT) program. The aim of the program is to replace the US Army’s family of heavy tactical trucks. The plan is to produce up to 40,000 vehicles worth up to 13 billion euros.

The two leading defense companies Rheinmetall and GM Defense entered into a strategic collaboration in 2022 to participate in the program and jointly develop a modern, tactical truck that focuses on the safety and protection of soldiers while enhancing their capabilities through future technologies. These include Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), increased off-road capability, cyber security, outstanding survivability, preparedness for autonomous use and improved fuel efficiency, as well as other important new technologies. By utilizing these capabilities, which are already present in most commercial vehicles, the risk of accidents can be reduced in the use of military vehicles. It also reduces the number of soldiers in dangerous convoy operations. https://militaeraktuell.at/es-wird-kein-stein-auf-dem-anderen-bleiben/ The industrial team offers the HX3 Common Tactical Truck (HX3-CTT). The HX3 is the latest truck generation of the highly successful and mission-proven HX family, which is in service with a number of NATO countries and US allies. The HX truck family is based on MAN Truck and Bus’ commercial truck portfolio, which brings a high level of commercial off-the-shelf components to the fleet – a priority requirement of the US Army in the CTT program. The HX3-CTT system features enhanced on-road and off-road mobility, integrated survivability and an open digital architecture that supports ADAS and enables autonomous vehicle operation. Combined with the open architecture, the HX3-CTT’s commercial framework enables continuous modernization and a rapid increase in capabilities as technology evolves – including the use of robots and autonomous vehicles.

“Together, our team is delivering a future-ready truck that leverages the commercial strengths of our partners, Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) and General Motors, and the commonality of the HX3 CTT design.
