Rheinmetall and the Spanish technology company Indra have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further intensify their strategic cooperation, particularly in the production of military vehicle systems for the European and Latin American armed forces.

The next step is to establish a joint venture this year in order to participate in a tender for the Spanish army for the procurement of up to 3,000 military trucks.

With this agreement, both companies intend to expand their existing partnership and jointly address future projects in the field of modern defense and security technologies. The aim is to “develop innovative solutions for armed forces and at the same time strengthen the European industrial base in the defense sector in the long term”, according to a recent press release.

This includes the modernization of tracked armoured vehicles, activities in the field of tactical support vehicles as well as joint participation in a solution for infantry fighting vehicles and the establishment of consortia for projects in the field of logistics trucks.

Cooperation through mutual complementation

The MoU creates the framework for more intensive cooperation along the entire value chain, from integration to production and service. Both companies will contribute their complementary skills in the areas of system integration, sensor technology, digitalization as well as platform and effector systems.
