The reception of the Vorarlberg Military Command took place for the third time. Military Commander Brigadier Ernst Konzett received guests from politics, authorities and business in the Colonel Bilgeri command building. The event was launched three years ago to provide information on the current security situation and the state of the armed forces and to cultivate personal contacts.
In his 30-minute presentation, Brigadier Konzett gave an insight into the European security situation and explained the threat posed by asymmetric warfare. He then went on to discuss the current state of the Austrian Armed Forces and the consequences of decades of austerity policies. Among the guests were Reinhard Bösch, Member of the National Council, and Clemens Ender and Hubert Kinz, Members of Parliament. The Mayor of Bludenz, Mandi Katzenmayer, Gernot Längle from the regional government office, Feldkirch District Police Commander Lieutenant Colonel Helmut Rauch, Reinhard Karg from the regional fire brigade association and the President of the Vorarlberg Wind Music Association, Wolfram Baldauf, also listened attentively to the presentation.

The military associations were represented by the President of the Vorarlberg Officers’ Association, Colonel Josef Müller, the President of the Landeskameradschaftsbund, Colonel Alwin Denz, the President of the Black Cross, Colonel Erwin Fitz, and the President of the Gesellschaft für Landesverteidigung und Sicherheitspolitik, Ernest Enzelsberger. From the business world, Christoph Jenny from the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce, Andreas Lauterer, Administrative Director of Bregenz Hospital, and Thomas Lerch, Managing Director of Seilbahnen Gargellen, were also present.
