There are days when even your beloved 55-liter rucksack reaches its limits. Before you start toying with the idea of hanging dangling shopping bags all over it, it might be worth reaching for a multi-day backpack. In such cases, Tasmanian Tiger offers the TT Base Pack 75 as an option with plenty of room to maneuver.

Admittedly: It takes something to fill this backpack – but not much to carry it. The Base Pack 75 from Tasmanian Tiger is comfortable to carry thanks to the tried-and-tested V2 carrying system and the generous padding, which allows plenty of airflow. What also helps is the low weight of just over three kilograms for a rucksack in this size category. The clever choice of material and a trick make it possible: by opening the snow guard and readjusting the three loops that hold the lid compartment, the volume can be quickly increased to up to 90 liters. If, on the other hand, the volume needs to be minimized, the lid is removed and the roll-top snow guard can be tensioned either at the top or, even better, to the side – turning the colossus into a fighting dwarf.

Even big things have their subtleties, and the Base Pack 75 has no shortage of them: a pre-shaped head recess gives helmet wearers more freedom of movement, the hip belt is efficiently secured via a deflection, side compression straps reduce too much movement in the rucksack and a height-adjustable shoulder section will please all tall people. Access via the top or bottom compartment, on the other hand, is classic but tried and tested. Both compartments can be separated from the inside with a zipper and flap.

Perfect thought has also gone into the dual hydration tube and inner tube outlets, the huge lid compartment with drawstring and space for the first aid kit and the double handles for raising and lowering the rucksack.

MOLLE is provided for those who want order: there are countless loops on the sides and on the lid, but not on the bottom. Instead, there are two material loops to hold the ground mat or other bulky items – there is certainly no lack of webbing. Poles and ice axes have their own loops on the outside, while two MOLLE Velcro strips (2 × 10) are available for more sensitive material on the inside.

Ranger conclusion: With the Base Pack 75, Tasmanian Tiger have created a backpack that not only allows a lot of variability in the 75 to 90 liter range. With MOLLE pouches, it can even be expanded to more than 100 liters and if you also take care of a rain cover, you have a backpack for the proverbial eternity.
