Building on the close strategic defence relationship between Denmark and the Netherlands, DALO (Danish Defence Materiel Organization) and COMMIT (Dutch Defence Materiel Organization) have signed a contract for the delivery of five Thales Ground Master 200 Multi-Mission Compact radars (GM200 MM/C). The systems will be delivered to the Danes via the Dutch material organization.
“I am very pleased about the procurement of new, mobile radars for air surveillance. This is the advanced functionality that the army needs right now, also and especially in view of the current political security situation,” says Lieutenant General Kim Jesper Jørgensen, Head of DALO. According to a recent Thales statement, the GM200 MM/c was developed “for modern warfare, taking into account operational excellence and military knowledge and experience”. The Ground Master 200 family radar offers simultaneous detection and tracking capabilities as well as classification of all current and future threats, such as drones. The new generation 4D AESA also enables the radar operator to obtain as much information as possible about the incoming threat, with a longer dwell time at the target. The system is also capable of automatically detecting a track and classifying aircraft, drones, helicopters and other threats. This makes the radar suitable for surveillance, securing airspace and detecting enemy locations. https://militaeraktuell.at/leonardos-aw169-ist-nun-noch-leistungsfaehiger/ The compact design of the GM200 MM/c enables the user to deploy the system extremely quickly thanks to its high mobility, rapid deployment and multiple transportation options. In addition, the system is equipped with software-controlled radar technology that enables future updates and upgrades to adapt to constantly evolving threats and associated experience. A COMMIT commander, Vice Admiral Jan Willem Hartman, also expressed his satisfaction: “Cooperation is important, especially between smaller countries in Europe. The procurement of the GM 200 MM/c is an example of how allies can help each other to strengthen their defense forces through interoperable equipment. It is also beneficial that Denmark and the Netherlands are purchasing identical configurations of the GM 200MM/c, so we can work together on updates and support in the future.”
