A few days ago, the Austrian contingent in Bosnia and Herzegovina began its largest training exercise of the year, “Quick Response 2021”. The soldiers are part of the international EUFOR force and are optimizing their operational readiness with the exercise.
The first week was dedicated to joint training for the upcoming exercise. The aim is to form the six companies from different nations under one command and to train and consolidate processes and procedures.

Cooperation and coordination in the multinational staff, joint patrols, evacuation operations, dealing with demonstrations and crowds (“crowd and riot control”) as well as operations with helicopter support are practiced. Six companies from Austria, Hungary, Turkey, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria are under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Reinhard Janko, the commander of the multinational battalion at EUFOR. The A-Company consists mainly of soldiers from Panzergrenadierbataillon 35 from Großmittel. They have now been serving abroad in Bosnia and Herzegovina for almost six months. Their tasks range from patrols and camp security to joint training with EUFOR soldiers from other nations.
