Will the NATO is threatened on its eastern flank in the Baltic states, the Bundeswehr is on hand with the 10th Armored Division: as a multinational spearhead for NATO, the division is currently practicing the Alliance case in Lithuania with around 3,500 soldiers. The combat exercise involving three of the division’s combat brigades is a highlight of the “Quadriga 2024” exercise series.
The central element of the exercise series is the rapid deployment of Bundeswehr and allied forces in the event of defense. This is a visible expression of the turning point. In addition to the division troops and the German Panzerbrigade 12 (Cham), the German-French Brigade (Müllheim/Baden) and the Dutch 13th Light Brigade (Oirschot) are also part of the division’s exercising troops. Together with the Lithuanian mechanized infantry brigade “Iron Wolf”, all three brigades are preparing to defend against a possible external threat.
Quadriga 2024 – NATO exercises in Lithuania
“Quadriga 2024” is part of the NATO large-scale maneuver “Steadfast Defender 24”. With its participation, Germany is sending a signal of solidarity and defense readiness to the allied nations in Eastern Europe. Since January, more than 12,000 soldiers have been taking part in several large-scale exercises to deploy troops in Germany and abroad.
