This week, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced his intention to launch an offensive against Ukraine as a consequence of Russia’s war of aggression (-> current news from the Ukraine war) announced the start of construction of the “Eastern Shield” defense line on the borders with Belarus and Russia.

Poland will therefore in parallel with the recent significant increase in investment in its armed forces Poland will also spend more than two billion euros on strengthening its border with Russia and Belarus. The total value of the contracts for the construction machinery amounts to around 137.5 million euros. In mid-October, the first tests of the barrier and fortification elements to be deployed as part of the Eastern Shield program took place at the Ozhysh military training area. Completion of the fortifications is planned for 2028.
