Patria will advance the product development of the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program by acquiring three test vehicles from the Finnish Armed Forces. As part of the CAVS program, Patria has manufactured and provided these vehicles. In 2022, the Finnish Armed Forces tested them before the official the official series order in the summer of 2023 followed.
The test vehicles enabled the Finnish army to get to know the Patria 6×6 vehicle and its deployment and operating characteristics in detail before series delivery in order to ensure an effective transition from the old to the new vehicles when they are delivered. In addition to Finland, Latvia, Sweden and Germany are also represented in the CAVS program.
Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Finnish division, said: “Patria plans to use these 6×6 pre-production vehicles for further development, testing and marketing under the CAVS program. The program has also attracted interest from other countries, and this procurement increases Patria’s flexibility and enables a faster response to customer requirements and increasing demand.”
