Patria and the Latvian Ministry of Defense recently agreed on the delivery of 56 additional Patria 6×6 armored vehicles (-> Insights into the Patria 6×6), which will be added to the deliveries already underway as part of the joint Common Armored Vehicle System (CAVS) program. These additional vehicles will serve as command and control (C2) units.

The vehicles will also be produced at the Patria’s production facility for armored vehicles in Valmiera, which opened in May 2024 will be used. Deliveries began in 2024 and will continue until 2029. The agreement is worth more than 60 million euros. “The new Patria 6×6 armored command vehicles will significantly improve the operational capabilities of our armed forces and contribute to the development of the Latvian military industry, continuing the successful cooperation between the defense sector and industry,” said Andris Sprūds, the Minister of Defense of Latvia. https://militaeraktuell.at/estland-nato-verbuendete-landesverteidigung/ The Patria 6×6 vehicle was selected as the platform for the CAVS program, which already includes Finland, Latvia, Sweden and Germany. Germany are already participating. The CAVS-related Patria 6×6 deliveries are currently going not only to Latvia, but also to Finland and Sweden. The vehicles are already in use there. According to Patria, it has already received orders for more than 750 Patria 6×6 vehicles, of which around 200 have already been delivered. The program is open to other European countries with similar equipment requirements, provided the participating countries agree. Mats Warstedt, Senior Vice President of Patria’s Nordics market area, comments on the new order: “We are pleased that we have a new armored vehicle variant in the joint CAVS program and that Latvia is the first customer for it. The close cooperation between Patria, Latvia and other CAVS member states has once again proven to be beneficial, as it enables a cost-effective and efficient research and development program that allows for a fast manufacturing and delivery process.”
