The Government of the Republic of Austria and the Government of the Republic of Serbia have concluded a new agreement on military cooperation. The aim is to define general guidelines and procedures for military cooperation between the two countries.

Cooperation under this Agreement shall cover the areas of defense and security policy, military-economic cooperation, military-technical cooperation, military education and training, military medicine and veterinary science, and other areas of military cooperation as agreed by the competent authorities. Activities under the Agreement include official visits, working meetings, exchanges of experience and consultations, participation in military education and training, participation in exercises, participation in conferences, symposia and seminars, and other activities as agreed by the competent authorities. Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner: “The security situation with the challenges and scenarios of the 21st century makes it increasingly important for us to cooperate more closely with countries in the region. It contributes to the stabilization of the Western Balkans, increases the success of peace support operations and helps to overcome challenges such as natural disasters, migration and pandemics.” The competent authorities, the Federal Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Austria and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, will develop the planned activities for the following calendar year and define the responsibilities. https://militaeraktuell.at/wie-steht-es-heute-um-den-westbalkan/ The Agreement is based on the desire to contribute to peace and security in the world, taking into account the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter. With the entry into force of this Agreement, the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Austria, represented by the Federal Minister of Defence, and the Council of Ministers of Serbia and Montenegro, signed in Belgrade on 28 March 2006, shall cease to be valid.
