New order for Palfinger Marine: On behalf of the Singaporean Defense Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), the Austrian company is equipping six new multifunctional vessels of the Singaporean Navy with modern slipway systems. These will enable the safe launching and retrieval of boats at sea.
The system does not require any mechanical connections such as lever solutions or hooks. This minimizes the need for manual assistance and thus the risk of critical situations during the launch and retrieval manoeuvre.
This is the second time that Palfinger has been selected by the Republic of Singapore Navy as a supplier of slipway system technology. The first order for the Independence-class Littoral Mission Vessel (LMV) program consisted of eight ships, each equipped with two slipway systems. The last ship in this tranche was commissioned in January 2020.
The six multifunctional vessels are being built by Singaporean shipbuilder ST Engineering Marine. Each of these ships will be equipped with two large PQBS-SR slipway systems by Palfinger. Deliveries are currently planned for the period 2026 to 2031, and a long-term service contract also ensures maintenance by the Austrian company.
