Orizzonte Sistemi Navali (OSN), a joint venture between Fincantieri and Leonardohas signed a framework contract with the Naval Armaments Directorate of the General Secretariat of Defense/National Armaments Directorate (Navarm) for the Maintenance in Operational Conditions (MOC) of the Italian Navy’s Cavour aircraft carrier and the Andrea Doria and Caio Duilio Horizon class destroyers.
The agreement has a total value of up to 190 million euros and runs until the end of 2028. Fincantieri will be responsible for the maintenance of the platform systems and equipment, including the engine, the automation system, the power generation and air conditioning systems, the maneuvering and propulsion mechanisms and the aircraft elevators of the aircraft carrier Cavour and the helicopter transport system of the Horizon class ships. Leonardo was tasked with all subsystems of the combat system, the radar sensors, the combat management system, the carrier systems and the weapon systems of both ship classes at the La Spezia and Taranto naval bases. The Leonardo subsystems involved in the maintenance comprise around 50 items of equipment.
