The US Army Operational Test Command’s Airborne and Special Operations Test Directorate (ABNSOTD) conducted the final airdrop tests of the Oshkosh Defense FMTV A2 Cargo 6×6 Low-Velocity Airdrop (LVAD) in mid-April. The airdrop tests are an important step for the FMTV A2 LVAD program. The tests validated the design and capabilities of the Cargo 6×6 LVAD to ensure its suitability for the requirements of airborne and follow-on operations.

Last year, the prototype of the Cargo 6×6 LVAD already completed several tests, including rollover protection structures (ROPS), RIGEX (rigging exercises) and roller loading and Simulated Airdrop Impact Testing (SAIT). The LVAD Cargo 4×4 and Dump Truck 6×6 variants will undergo similar tests this year. All three variants are designed to address the challenges of an aging medium LVAD fleet and perform different missions. https://militaeraktuell.at/kommandouebergabe-beim-jaegerbataillon-niederoesterreich/ “We are very pleased with the results of the FMTV A2 LVAD airborne testing,” said Pat Williams, Chief Programs Officer at Oshkosh Defense. “This is a significant step in delivering the FMTV A2 LVAD capability that underscores our commitment to working with the U.S. Army to deliver mission-critical tactical vehicles that meet the demands of the modern battlefield.”
