Corporal Shamil Borchashvili prevailed in the battle for third place against the German Dominik Ressl.

On July 27, the Austrian Shamil Borchashvili won his first bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. He had previously been beaten in the semi-finals by Mongolian Saeid Mollaei.
