The 18th Wien Energie Business Run took place at the beginning of September. 2,382 members of the armed forces in 794 teams took part in the run around the Ernst Happel Stadium. This meant that the armed forces were once again the strongest company this year.

The Chief of the General Staff, General Robert Brieger, led by example and also ran the approximately four-kilometer course. Wolfgang Baumann, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense, was there on behalf of Federal Minister Mario Kunasek and cheered on the runners.

The HSZ-1 team, consisting of corporal Julia Hauser, corporal Lena Millonig and platoon leader Andreas Vojta, won the mixed team competition, building on their success from the previous year. The fastest runner in the men’s race was Andreas Vojta, who beat the runner-up by just under a minute. Julia Hauser was only 0.2 seconds behind the fastest female runner. Lena Millonig achieved the third fastest time in the women’s race. Defense Minister Kunasek was delighted with the high number of participants: “Sport and exercise have always been a major concern for the armed forces and also play an important role for health. I congratulate all participants on their outstanding performance. I am particularly pleased that the Armed Forces were once again represented in such large numbers at this year’s Business Run.”
