Boeing recently signed a contract worth around 250 million euros for nine additional MH-47G Block II Chinook helicopters for the US Special Operations Aviation Command.
Boeing now has a contract for 24 next-generation Chinooks. The MH-47G Block II Chinook features an improved structure, including lighter fuel tanks to reduce weight and improve system performance. “The G-model is a critical engine for the Army, our nation and the national defense industry,” said Andy Builta, vice president and H-47 program manager. “We are honored that the Army continues to have confidence in us.” The first helicopter is scheduled for delivery later this year. Production will take place in Pennsylvania, where 4,600 Boeing employees manufacture the H-47 Chinook, V-22 Osprey and MH-139A Gray Wolf.
