DE&S (Defense Equipment & Support) has received an order worth 11.7 million euros to equip the UK Commando Force of the Royal Marines with new snowmobiles from Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP).

The Royal Marines traditionally move through the snow on skis, snowshoes or in tow of armored vehicles (known as skijoring). In order to be able to move over longer distances, the Specialist & Autonomous Mobility (SAM) team, part of DE&S, has secured up to 159 Lynx Brutal Over Snow Reconnaissance Vehicles from the Finnish subsidiary of the Canadian company Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP). The snowmobiles are due to be delivered from next year. https://militaeraktuell.at/oebh-naechster-schritt-zur-embraer-c-390-beschaffung/ Steve Hayward, Team Leader for the Specialist & Autonomous Mobility (SAM) team at DE&S, said: “The range of equipment we develop and procure for the armed forces is as diverse as the terrain in which they operate. Securing these essential capabilities for the command and control force is another step forward in ensuring our forces are adequately equipped and supported at all times.”
