On September 23, the new military musicians and the recruits of the staff company of the Salzburg Military Command took their oath of allegiance to the Republic of Austria in the Schwarzenberg barracks. After a month of basic training, the military musicians now begin their specialist training and the remaining recruits start serving in their functions.

“You, valued recruits – you have already made a valuable contribution by deciding to go down the path of military service. You have completed your initial training. You will make your artistic contribution as military musicians, you will be a professional advertising medium for the Austrian Armed Forces to the outside world, but also as operational soldiers when you act as ‘contact tracers’ to ward off real dangers to the life and limb of Austrians,” said Brigadier Anton Waldner. The Salzburg military commander continued: “Wherever you will be serving: I wish you all the best for your future service, enjoy this time, the camaraderie, take care of yourself and your comrades.” The religious part was introduced by a chorale and the blessing was performed by military chaplains Richard Weyringer and Oliver Gross. With the words “I pledge …!”, the soldiers said their pledge to the Republic of Austria, thereby affirming their service in the Austrian Armed Forces. The ceremony was accompanied by an ensemble of the Salzburg Military Music.
