Defense Minister Mario Kunasek paid a visit to Jäger Battalion 33 today to see the unit’s operational capability for himself. The reason for the visit was the official handover ceremony for the newly procured Dingo 2A3 all-protection vehicles from Krauss-Maffei Wegmann to the 3rd Jäger Brigade.

With a procurement volume of 76 million euros, the Dingo fleet will be expanded to a total of 99 vehicles. This vehicle from Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH & Co KG is a splinter and mine-protected wheeled vehicle which enables the safe transportation of soldiers under threat of fire and mines. Defense Minister Kunasek emphasized the necessity of this acquisition for fulfilling the tasks of military national defense and security police assistance missions. He thanked the battalion for the missions it has carried out, in particular for its support during the 2018 EU Council Presidency. The Dingo’s capabilities for operational tasks were demonstrated during a subsequent combat demonstration.
