The Netherlands donates 100 more radar systems for drone detection to Ukraine (-> Latest news from the war in Ukraine). Vehicles for evacuating the wounded are also being provided. The total aid package amounts to around 175 million euros and supplements contracts worth 500 million euros.
This was announced by Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans before the start of the NATO Defense Industry Forum in The Hague.
Ukraine will therefore have access to 100 drone detection radars. These systems are capable of detecting drones at an early stage and transmitting the data to air defence systems that can neutralize the drones. The delivery of these radars should be completed before the end of the year.
In addition, 20 Ermine CASEVAC vehicles will be delivered. These modular systems are used to safely transport wounded soldiers. The Netherlands is also providing a further 80 million euros for drones – as a contribution to the international drone coalition.
The new package complements the recently announced 400 million euros for maritime security.
