After five months of operational readiness for NATO the “Zr.Ms. Tromp” returns to her home port of Den Helder. The Dutch air defense and commando frigate was part of the so-called Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 (SNMG1). This multinational naval unit operated in the North Sea, Baltic Sea and Atlantic.

The ships carried out patrols and participated in operations to ensure security in these waters.

Should the security of the Alliance be jeopardized, the SNMG1 could take military action on NATO’s instructions. As one of NATO’s four permanent naval units, the SNMG1 is available around the clock for mission-critical tasks.

After docking at the pier, the crew was awarded the Commemorative Medal for International Missions in recognition of their commitment to collective protection and alliance solidarity.
