The NATO-Ukraine Center for Analysis, Training and Education (JATEC) is working on innovative solutions for the safe evacuation of wounded soldiers from the battlefield.

This was stated by Colonel Valerii Vyshnivskyi, Programme Director of JATEC, at a conference on wounded care organized in cooperation with the NATO Centre of Excellence for Military Medicine.

The enemy deliberately attacks both evacuation teams and wounded soldiers, which severely affects the morale and mental state of the units. “The effective evacuation of the wounded is therefore one of the greatest challenges of field medicine under the conditions of a large-scale war of aggression,” emphasized Colonel Vyshnivskyi.

Over 230 experts from 18 NATO and partner countries took part in the conference on site and online. They discussed the integration of civil-military planning, the use of innovative technologies – including drones, telemedicine and artificial intelligence – and the improvement of training to increase the overall effectiveness of CASEVAC operations.

“The JATEC conference evaluated Ukraine’s unique combat experience and intensified cooperation with NATO to strengthen the medical capabilities of both the Alliance and Ukraine,” said Brigadier General Wojciech Ozga, Commander of JATEC.
