For the first time, soldiers from the Territorial Command of the Bundeswehr have put a mobile command post into operation. The test operation of the forward mobile command post is part of the Bundeswehr exercise “National Guardian 2024”, which runs until May 5.
Over the course of two days, officers and officials from the Territorial Command practiced working together in and around the command post of the commander. The experts examined communication links as well as internal processes and work routes with physical proximity to a fictitious deployment location and at the same time distance from the operations center in Berlin. In this case, the location was the Jägerbrück military training area in north-eastern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Set-up and operation went smoothly
Soldiers from the Multinational CIMIC Command, the German Armed Forces Association for Civil-Military Interaction, from Nienburg an der Weser were responsible for setting up the command post during the exercise. The guard battalion of the Federal Ministry of Defense is responsible for securing the command post during the exercise as well as during a real deployment.

During the exercise in Jägerbrück, soldiers from the unit secured the assembled containers, various tents and a vehicle hall. At the same time, they controlled access to the area and ensured that only authorized personnel could enter the various work areas. On-site command of the Bundeswehr
If disasters and special military situations require the presence of the highest military commander with territorial responsibility on site, the commander of the Territorial Command, Lieutenant General André Bodemann, can use this facility to command Bundeswehr units from almost any location in Germany. From the forward mobile command post – in NATO-called Forward Command Post – experts from the command then work from the forward mobile command post. They prepare decision-making aids and briefings and organize meetings with local representatives of aid organizations as well as municipalities and communities.
