On Wednesday, the handover of command of the Saalfelden Mountain Combat Center from Colonel Jörg Rodewald to Colonel Gilbert Hammerle took place in the Wallner barracks in Saalfelden. After almost twelve years as commander, Rodewald will take his well-deserved retirement on March 31.

On April 1, Colonel Hammerle takes over the leadership of the Mountain Combat Center for the time being.

It is the competence center for the training of all commanders of the army for mountain combat. In addition, the Saalfelden Mountain Combat Center is responsible for conducting all alpine qualification courses in the Austrian Armed Forces, such as for army mountain guides, army high mountain specialists, army mountain instructors and flight rescuers.
