Milrem Robotics in cooperation with the Ukrainian defense technology company Frontline, has successfully integrated the Buria Remote Weapon Station (RWS) with a 40-millimeter grenade launcher on the unmanned ground vehicle Themis.
The integration was validated during live firing tests in Ukraine under realistic operating conditions. The combination of the Buria weapon station and the Themis platform enables precise target engagement at distances of up to 1,100 meters – while ensuring operator safety.
“This successful demonstration confirms the reliability and precision of Buria-Themis integration,” explains Paul Clayton, Director of Industrial Partnerships at Milrem Robotics. “It underscores the growing importance of robotic platforms to increase tactical effectiveness and protect soldiers on the modern battlefield.”
“This is a vivid example of combining Ukrainian innovation with European engineering,” says Yevhen Tretiak, CEO of Frontline. “We are convinced that the future of modern warfare belongs to robotic systems. Buria is part of our vision of a robotic frontline – where drones take over offensive and defensive operations while soldiers remain protected. Together, we are bringing these technologies to the frontline at a rapid pace.”

Further firing tests and tactical evaluations are planned in order to analyze its performance in various combat scenarios. The data obtained will be used to further develop the system and devise future deployment concepts.
Themis was the first unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) of its class to be used by the Ukrainian armed forces in the defense against the Russian war of aggression (-> Latest news from the war in Ukraine) and is now considered the most powerful UGV in Ukraine.
The Buria grenade launcher weapon station has been in service with military units since January 2025. It is being actively introduced into combat support units – accompanied by a specially developed training program for frontline operations.
