Pearson Engineering and Milrem Robotics have signed an agreement at IDEX 2025 to collaborate on the development of mission-specific unmanned ground vehicles for the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region. Kuldar Väärsi, founder and CEO of Milrem Robotics, and Ian Bell, Group CEO of Pearson Engineering, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on February 17.

The agreement formalizes the collaboration between the two companies, which has already seen Pearson Engineering’s earthmoving and booby trap removal equipment integrated into Milrem Robotics’ robotic combat vehicle. In the future, the MoU will offer new technologies to end users in the Middle East. The agreement focuses on exploring the integration of Pearson Engineering’s minefield countermeasure capabilities, specifically the RCV-Pioneer modular mission payload, into Milrem’s tracked Robotic Combat Vehicles.

“Robotics and autonomous systems are the future in land operations. If we can take our soldiers further away from the threat and deliver smarter unmanned vehicles, we will,” said Ian Bell, who emphasized that Milrem Robotics has tremendous experience with the support of its parent company, EDGE Group.

In addition, the two companies will also work together to improve operational effectiveness and explore scenarios that robotic systems experience in theaters of operation. This should ensure that the cutting-edge technologies deployed provide a further operational and tactical advantage.

Kuldar Väärsi is certain: “The combination of our robotic systems with Pearson Engineering’s solutions will provide more reliable, cost-efficient and safer options in many combat scenarios, increase combat efficiency and reduce the cost of operations. This is especially true in areas that pose an immediate threat to our soldiers, such as combat engineering.”
